GTA 6 Trailer 3: what An Extended Look actually confirmed

It aired. 26 minutes and 49 seconds, captured entirely in-engine on PlayStation 5, and free on YouTube. Here is every fact Rockstar put its name to — and, just as usefully, everything it pointedly did not.

Short answer

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premiered on August 27, 2026 — Netflix at 3 PM ET, then free on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel at 9 PM ET. It runs 26:49, and Rockstar states it was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5.

The release date did not move. Rockstar repeated it in the same post: November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. One thing to know before you click: the video carries a YouTube age restriction, so you need to be signed in.

Watch it: Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on the Rockstar Games channel — free, no Netflix needed. You will need to be signed in to YouTube: the upload is age-restricted, which is also why no site can embed it in a player, this one included.

01What the video is

Start with the name, because almost every write-up gets it wrong. Rockstar has never called this “Trailer 3”. Its title is An Extended Look — and at nearly twenty-seven minutes, that is not marketing language. A trailer sells you a minute. This is a showcase.

Correction, August 28. Before the premiere this page listed the runtime as “~20 min, unconfirmed”, sourced to a Netflix support page, with a competing report claiming 30 minutes. Both were wrong. The real figure is 26:49. We are leaving the mistake visible rather than quietly editing it out — a page that only ever shows its correct guesses is not worth trusting.

02Where to watch it, and what Netflix was for

It is now permanently free on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel and on Rockstar’s own site. Nothing is behind a subscription any more.

What the Netflix window actually was

Six hours. Netflix carried the premiere at 3 PM ET; YouTube and rockstargames.com followed at 9 PM ET the same day. Subscribers bought a head start and nothing else — same video, same length, no extra footage. That question is now closed permanently, which is why we have rewritten this section rather than deleted it.

The one catch

YouTube has the video age-restricted. In practice that means three things: you must be signed in to a Google account to watch it, signed-out viewing fails, and the video cannot be embedded normally on other sites. If a page claims to have it embedded and playable without a sign-in, you are not watching Rockstar’s upload.

Watch it in your own language

Rockstar published human-made subtitles in fourteen languages, not machine translations, plus an auto-generated English track. Turn them on with the CC button. The full list:

English · Spanish · Spanish (Latin America) · Portuguese (Brazil) · French · French (Canada) · German · Italian · Polish · Russian · Japanese · Korean · Chinese (Simplified) · Chinese (Traditional)

03What Rockstar did not say

This is the part other write-ups skip, because empty space does not make headlines. But it is where most of the false claims you will read this week come from — somebody fills the gap and the fill gets repeated until it sounds official.

Across the Newswire post and the video description, Rockstar named no characters, no locations, no missions and no mechanics. It did not state a runtime. It did not mention a PC version. It did not announce a fourth video. Everything in those categories currently circulating is somebody’s reading of the footage, not Rockstar’s word — which can still be correct, but is a different kind of claim.

04How it landed, in numbers

Measured on the official upload at 13:00 UTC on August 28, 2026, roughly sixteen hours after the YouTube release. We timestamp these because they move by the hour and an undated view count is a decoration, not a fact.

Worth keeping in perspective: the age restriction suppresses this figure. Every signed-out viewer is turned away at the door, so the true reach is higher than the counter shows.

05What actually happens in it

Everything below comes straight from Rockstar’s own subtitles — turn CC on and you will hear every line for yourself. No leak lore, no frame-by-frame guesswork. Here is the video as a story, because that is what it is.

A pickup goes wrong

It opens as a job. Jason and Lucia arrive at a grow house to collect for a man named Boobie, get pointed upstairs to Raymond — and walk into the worst afternoon of his life. Raymond’s phone will not stop ringing, a voice called Ernesto is making threats through the speaker, and before anyone agrees on anything, armed police are coming through the front door. The whole opening stretch is one long escalating escape: workers scattering, bricks grabbed on the way out, “Fuck Boobie” — and the two of them suddenly partners in something much bigger than an errand.

New security

The video’s best reveal is not a car chase — it is a job title. Midway through, Jason and Lucia turn up at a glittering party thrown by a company called Mega Mundo and are introduced to its executive director, Petra Navarro, as “Andrés’s new security”. That is the only moment in twenty-seven minutes where anyone says out loud what these two actually do for a living — and it means the pair from the grow house have climbed a long way up the food chain.

Then the party ends

It ends the way GTA parties end. Gunmen storm the event, the security detail earns its pay, and Andrés — the man they were hired to protect — gets taken anyway. The final act is Lucia and Jason tearing after the money through a Leonida that shoots back, while somebody screams “where’s the money?” at a man who very clearly does not know.

And a quiet ending

The last spoken scene is not an explosion. It is a monologue: “Might not feel like it, but these are your glory days… Nothing is going to beat who you are now.” Laid over everything the video has just shown, that lands less like advice and more like a warning — and it tells you the game intends to be about these two people, not just their crimes.

Leonida speaks Spanish

Turn the subtitles on and you catch something the screenshot threads keep missing: Leonida keeps sliding into Spanish. A curse in the middle of a car chase, a greeting at a party, a whole shouted argument over missing money — different people, different ends of the state, from the opening minutes to the very last scene. That is not a flourish written for one character. That is simply what the place sounds like — and if you speak Spanish, some of the best lines land for you first.

What it does not establish

No map size. No mission structure. No vehicle list. No PC version. None of that is said or shown. Anything you read on those subjects this week is somebody’s reading of the footage — possibly right, but not Rockstar’s word, and we will not print it as if it were.

06Questions people are asking

How long is GTA 6 Trailer 3?

26 minutes and 49 seconds. The pre-premiere figures of 20 and 30 minutes both circulated widely and both were wrong.

Do I need Netflix to watch it?

No, and you no longer need to wait either. It is free and permanent on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel. Netflix only ever bought subscribers a six-hour head start on August 27.

Why does YouTube ask me to sign in?

The upload is age-restricted, so YouTube blocks signed-out playback and normal embedding. This is a Rockstar-set restriction on the video, not a regional block, and there is no way around it other than signing in.

Will there be another trailer after this one?

Unknown. Rockstar has not announced one. With under twelve weeks between An Extended Look and launch, more marketing is likely, but no fourth video has been confirmed and anyone stating otherwise is guessing.

Does the video change the release date?

No — it reinforces it. Rockstar restated November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in the same post that announced the video was live. A studio does not repeat a date it is about to move.

07Where this one sits

Read the sequence and the shape is clear: two delays, then pre-orders, then a twenty-seven-minute showcase twelve weeks out. That is a launch cadence, not a slipping one.
